College already asks a lot of you: classes, exams, a job, a roommate, and the future you were just starting to map out. Then a positive pregnancy test changes the picture quickly, and the weeks ahead can feel uncertain in a way that’s hard to put into words.

If that’s where you are, you don’t have to sort it all out at once. Many students face unexpected pregnancy during school, and there are ways to get clear information and support while you figure out what comes next.

So the real question becomes simple: what’s your next step?

Pregnancy Choices offers no-cost, confidential pregnancy services, including certified life coaching, for students working through exactly this. You don’t have to have it all figured out, and you don’t have to sort through it alone.

Book an appointment and take your next step with support already in your corner.

Step One: Get Confirmation, Not Just a Result

Before deciding anything, it helps to have the full picture, and having factual information can make everything that follows feel more manageable. A positive at-home pregnancy test tells you that you’re pregnant, but it can’t tell you how far along you are or whether the pregnancy is progressing.

Pregnancy Choices provides no-cost pregnancy testing, and clients who test positive may qualify for a limited obstetric ultrasound. These ultrasounds confirm intrauterine pregnancy, estimate gestational age, and check for fetal cardiac activity, giving you evidence-based information to bring into your options conversation, so you don’t have to guess.

What Title IX Means for You as a Student

Here’s some good news many students don’t know about: Title IX, a federal law, protects your right to stay enrolled and keep working toward your degree during and after pregnancy. It also prohibits your school from treating you differently because you’re pregnant or parenting.

In practice, that means your school can’t remove you from a class, program, or activity simply because you’re pregnant. If you need time away for appointments or recovery, you can request accommodations, and that request can’t be held against you academically. Your education stays in your hands.

If you have questions about how this affects your financial aid, housing, or enrollment, your school’s Title IX coordinator is the next point of contact.

Parenting While Earning Your Degree

Parenting and finishing school at the same time is hard work, but it’s also more achievable than many students assume, especially with the right support in place early on.

During your appointment, our certified life coaches can connect you with parenting resources, campus and community programs, and practical next steps, so you can picture what this path could realistically look like for your life and education.

Adoption as a Path Forward

Adoption is one option that can allow you to stay focused on your education while creating a plan for your child’s future. Many adoption plans also help cover pregnancy-related medical expenses, which can ease some of the financial pressure during this time.

There are different types of adoption, and the arrangement can look different depending on what you choose. Many women choose the level of openness that feels right for them and stay involved in certain decisions throughout the process.

Our certified life coaches can explain what adoption generally involves and share information on reputable agencies, if that’s a direction you want to explore.
