Whether you’re a Rosemont Irish, Burnsville Blaze, or from another high school in our area, navigating an unexpected pregnancy during school is challenging, but it isn’t impossible. We’ve got some tips that can help you.
More than anything, our life coaches at Pregnancy Choices want you to know you’re not alone. We’re here for you and with you. Plus, all of our services are no-cost and confidential.
Visit us for pregnancy testing, ultrasound, life coaching, and more to learn more about your pregnancy and figure out what options and helpful resources are available.
Have You Confirmed Your Pregnancy?
You’ve probably already taken a home pregnancy test, but if not, visit Pregnancy Choices for a no-cost pregnancy test. A trained professional administers the test, ensuring you receive accurate results.
If your pregnancy test result is positive, we will provide a no-cost limited ultrasound scan. A pregnancy test indicates the possibility of pregnancy, but an ultrasound confirms it.
Experts estimate that as many as 26% of all pregnancies end in a miscarriage. If the ultrasound does not detect a fetal heartbeat, you may have miscarried, or it’s too early in your pregnancy.

Have You Considered All Your Options?
After confirming your pregnancy, you’ll need to consider your options. Together, we can discuss your situation and explore all available options.
If your partner is willing, bring him to the appointment with you. Or, you’re welcome to bring a close friend or family member. We want you to feel comfortable.
There are many resources available to you if you choose to parent. We can assist you with housing, medical care, parenting education, childbirth classes, and many other services.
If you would like to explore creating an adoption plan for your child, we can provide referrals to local, reputable, and licensed adoption agencies. An agency covers your medical and legal costs, plus you may receive coverage for pregnancy-related expenses.
We’ll also provide information about abortion, which is your third option.
Confirming the age of the pregnancy through ultrasound can help us provide you with information on your specific abortion options as well as what to expect.
You Have Protection as a Pregnant Student
Title IX protects you as a pregnant or parenting student. Your school administration or teachers cannot discriminate against you.
They must allow you to participate in classes and extracurricular activities; however, they can’t force you. You’re allowed to have excused absences due to pregnancy or childbirth, and you can return to school at the same academic level.
Neither the school administration nor other students can harass you. If you feel you’re being harassed, visit your counselor or your school’s Title IX coordinator to file a complaint.
